Our Story
The Grand Chola is named in honour of King Raja Raja Chola—also known as Rajaraja the Great—the iconic Chola emperor who ruled from 985 CE to 1014 CE. A visionary leader and cultural patron, his reign shaped South India and beyond.
Our interiors are inspired by the majestic Brihadeeshwara Temple in Tanjore, built by the emperor over 1000 years ago. This architectural marvel is renowned for its towering vimana (temple tower), which astonishingly casts no shadow at noon, showcasing the brilliance of Chola-era engineering.
